Notes
Thirty eight bunks on Cowboy Ridge above Russet Lake, the south anchor of the Spearhead Traverse and the most comfortable backcountry hut in southwest BC. An 18 panel solar array runs the lights and twelve USB ports, propane handles heat and the four cooktops, and mattresses are provided, so you only need a 3 season bag. No running water yet: melt snow in winter, haul it up from the lake in summer. Getting in is avalanche terrain rather than glacier terrain, unmarked in winter and rated ATES Challenging. The glaciers start when you leave for Overlord or Whirlwind. Buying a lift ticket cuts the walk from 14 km to 9.4 km. Booking opens on a 60 day rolling window and club members take most prime ski weekends at 90 days.
