Batchelor Cabin

Notes
The closest cabin to the road and the one to pick if you are dragging kids or a first timer into a hut overnight. Under two hours in any season, and the terrain around it is lake flats and low angle forest rather than anything that will scare you. It had a reputation as a party cabin and BC Parks wanted to downgrade it to a day shelter, which is what started the club's cabin steward program; two volunteers with Cabin Sheriff crests on their hats turned it around. It has since been stained, insulated, skirted and given a new upper balcony. Crossing Tannis Lake and Batchelor Lake shortens the ski in when they are properly frozen and is a bad idea when they are not. The Batchelor Mayne Edwards loop past Mayne Lake is the local day tour and the club put 220 volunteer hours into clearing it in mid 2026. From the upper 4WD summer lot it is 2.4 km.
