The hub of the Tetrahedron. Mount Steele Cabin is 3 km and 370 m above, McNair is 5 km the other way, so this is where multi cabin trips stage. It is also the most visited of the four, which is the tradeoff for the easiest access to real terrain. The winter route crosses one avalanche slope on the old logging road past Victor's Landing, short but it runs out into trees, and the club's advice is to space out or take the Gilbert Lake line from the upper lot instead. Steele Creek is just past the cabin on a bridge volunteers rebuilt, with a loud waterfall under it during rain on snow cycles. The cabin sits about 500 m from Edwards Lake and is easy to walk past in a whiteout, so have a bearing ready. Winter figures start at the lower plowed lot; from the upper 4WD summer lot it is 4.8 km.
