Notes

A 3 by 5 metre arch Himmelsbach hut on a rock rib just west of Claw Peak, about 4 km southeast of Mount Tiedemann, and the standard base for climbing in the Waddington Range. BCMC built it in July 1969 and named it for Paul Plummer, who died the year before. Access is a charter helicopter from Bluff Lake, so the 10 dollar CAD honour system fee is by a wide margin the cheapest line on the trip. Amenities are an outhouse, a two burner white gas stove, a propane lantern and solar lights, and that is the list, so carry pots, stove, pad and fuel. BCMC runs a daily webcam at the hut, which is the fastest way to read snow and weather before committing to a flight. Leaving the door in any direction means glacier travel on the Tellot or the Tiedemann, so rope and crevasse rescue gear are not optional even though the flight in skips all of it. At 2,680 m this is by a long way the highest hut in the club's system.
