Watersprite Lake Cabin
Operated by BC Mountaineering Club
Data verified 2026-08-15
Notes
A locked 5 by 6.2 metre Himmelsbach style cabin on the northwest side of the lake, rented whole hut only at $300 CAD a night for up to 8 people, dropping to $200 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You pay online and the system emails you the door access code, which changes regularly. There is a separate emergency booking that also emails a code, and that is the only legitimate way in if the cabin is already occupied. Public bookings open 60 days out and BCMC members get 90, which matters because this is the club's busiest hut. Custodians may be sleeping over, so keep your confirmation handy. The wood stove runs all year and the firewood is flown in, so burn it sparingly. Water comes out of the lake or creek in two 20L pails, and in winter you dig down about 30 cm through the lake ice or melt clean snow. Reaching the summer trailhead means about 20 km of Mamquam and Skookum Creek forest road to the dam and genuinely needs high clearance. Dogs are not allowed inside.
