Notes

Officially the Stephanie Grothe Hut, though the VOC wiki, the trail reports and everyone on the skin track still call it Brew. This is the third building on the site, and nothing here burned: Brew I was crushed by snow creep in its first winter (1982) and Brew II was dismantled for firewood in 2005 once the current hut was finished. No reservations, no lock, first come first served at $15 CAD per person per night, paid into the blue drop box at the hut or through the VOC Showpass page. VOC club trips take priority over New Years, Reading Week and Easter, so contact the club before betting a holiday weekend on a bunk. Brew catches something like 50 percent more snow than Whistler, which is the draw and also the problem, since whiteouts above Brew Lake are routine and the last stretch to the col is unmarked off trail travel. Wood stove only, and the firewood is helicoptered in at club expense, so burn it sparingly.
